The training is at Mont Pleasant Branch Library from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Narcan, also known as Naloxone, can be administered to anyone experiencing a drug or opioid overdose, and all participants will receive a free Narcan kit along with fentanyl and xylazine test strips.

Anyone unable to make the in-person training can participate in an online training through the Schenectady County website. Questions about Narcan trainings provided by Schenectady County Public Health Services can call (518) 386-2067.

Schenectady County Legislator Michelle Ostrelich said learning to use Narcan is vital in saving someone experiencing an opioid overdose. “Training opportunities like these make it easier for community members to gain the tools and knowledge they need to respond effectively and confidently during an emergency,” Ostrelich said.
