ROME, N.Y. -- The first aircraft taking part in the flyover at this year's Boilermaker Road Race arrived at Griffiss International Airport Friday afternoon. The KC-135 Stratotanker is from the 914th Air Refueling Wing at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. Two local airmen, Lt. Col. Ryan Mowers and Lt. Col. TJ Antonoff, both New Hartford residents and natives of Dolgeville, will be in the cockpit for the flyover at the post-race party.

Works Progress Administration (WPA), Work Relief Programs. The Valley View Golf Course is a municipal course located in Utica’s extensive Roscoe Conkling city park. The course was originally built in the mid-1920s, then redesigned by famed golf architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. with financial aid (and probably workers) from the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The works appears to have been done in 1939 and the course reopened in 1940.
