National Grid faces statewide protests following rate hike ask
National Grid is asking for its biggest rate hike in several decades. Now, the utility is getting pushback from protests across the state, including central New York. Protesters took to the streets in front of the Syracuse National Grid offices opposing rate hikes in favor of legislation that addresses energy affordability and climate change. Ethan Gormley of Citizen Action of New York organized the protest, which he said is two-pronged.
Sherrill Garden club to host presentation on Victorian gardens
SHERRILL — The Sherrill Garden Club will host its first fall meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Sherrill-Kenwood Library, 543 Sherrill Road. Master Gardener Polly Anderosa will give a presentation about Victorian gardens which reflect the era’s love of plants, travel and innovation, including such elements as shaped beds with colorful plants, cottage style gardens, topiaries, statues and urns. She will also demonstrate how to make a “tussy mussy,” a small bouquet of flowers and herbs.
