Little League pitcher throws perfect game, striking out 16 of 18 hitters
WAKEFIELD, Massachusetts (WBZ) -- A Little League pitcher in Massachusetts threw a perfect game Wednesday night. Twelve-year-old Tyler Fabiano struck out 16 of the 18 hitters he faced for the Wakefield Cardinals in their 1-0 win over the Royals. Little League games are just six innings. Only two of batters actually put the bat on the ball during the game, Fabiano said.
At Long Last: Marvelous Marvin to Finally Get His Statue in the ‘City of Champions’
Not much good news comes out of Brockton, Massachusetts these days but I’ve got some. Former undisputed middleweight champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler will be posthumously honored in the city he helped keep on the boxing map with a life-sized bronze statue produced by Brodin Studios in Kimball, Minnesota. The statue of Hagler, “in an action stance” will be unveiled on June 13th at a small space near to where the old Petronelli Gym was once located.

Plymouth South's stellar day: Vote for the High School Boys Lacrosse Player of the Week
Scituate High's Lydon O'Brien has been voted the High School Boys Lacrosse Player of the Week. The junior received over 3,000 votes to earn the honor. The goaltender starred as Scituate rallied from a 5-0 halftime deficit to defeat Plymouth South, 8-7. O'Brien finished with 15 saves, 6 of which came in the fourth quarter.

The undefeated Revere High girls outdoor track and field team moved another step closer to a Greater Boston League (GBL) title last week with a 96-34 triumph over Chelsea. Coach Racquel MacDonald-Ciambelli and her crew were scheduled to take on GBL foe Malden yesterday (Tuesday). Revere on paper rates as the favorite in the match-up, given that Malden only narrowly defeated Chelsea two weeks ago.
Another perfect regular season in the books for Revere girls track
The Revere High School girls track program just doesn’t lose. Period. The Patriots won another Greater Boston League regular season title with a 7-0 mark after a win over Malden on Tuesday, May 14. That is the second consecutive season the Patriots finished perfectly in the dual meet regular season. They did so also in the winter indoor track season. And they even topped that off with a Greater Boston League meet championship in the winter, completing the ultimate sweep.

The Needham Rockets hosted Milton High on Thursday, May 9 for their eighth Bay State Conference game of the season. The Rockets held a powerful presence on the field that propelled them to a dominant 16-2 win over the Milton Wildcats. Needham now holds a 7-5 record for the regular season with only five games left to go.

On yet another pristine rowing day, the Hingham High School Crew team traveled to Hooksett, New Hampshire last weekend to take on Bedford Crew. With temperatures in the 50s, a light south easterly head wind, and a few scattered clouds to minimize the glare, Hingham showed its talent, depth, and skill throughout the morning along the tree-lined,1,500 meter course.
