Rhode Island woman accused of defrauding seniors, vulnerable individuals in 41 states of $10 million dollars
PROVIDENCE, RI – A Rhode Island woman who is alleged to have created and executed direct-mail sweepstakes schemes that defrauded seniors and other vulnerable individuals in Rhode Island and in dozens of states across the country out of an estimated $10 million dollars, has been indicted by a federal grand jury and arraigned on conspiracy and fraud charges, announced United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha.
Driver dies in crash that closed highway near RI, Mass. border
A Massachusetts man died in a three-vehicle crash that closed the westbound side of Interstate 195 near the Rhode Island border for several hours Tuesday afternoon, according to the Massachusetts State Police. The crash happened at about 1:20 p.m. near Exit 1 in Seekonk. The police closed all three lanes to rescue and treat occupants of the vehicles, the state police said.
