    High School Spring Athletes Honored at Scotch Plains Council Meeting

    SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Athletes from the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School spring season were honored by the Scotch Plains Township Council during its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 16.

    Proclamations honoring the high school's boys tennis, boys volleyball, and spring track teams were read by Councilman Matt Adams and Deputy Mayor Ellen Zimmerman. Several players from the boys volleyball team were in attendance, as well as Noah Ricca of the spring track team.

    These three teams had successful 2024 seasons, with the boys tennis team winning the first round of sectionals, spring track having many gold medal finishes, and boys volleyball repeating as Sectional Champions.

    The athletes were not the only young people to take part in the meeting. Four young girls from the S.T.A.R.S. Theater Program in Scotch Plains led Tuesday's meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. The program is practicing for their upcoming musical production of Diary of a Wimpy Kid this weekend.
