Hundreds come out for the first day of Summer Fest

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Summer means festivals, amusement parks, and outdoor activities like Summer Fest in Scott Township.

A crowd of people all came out to Lakeland Orchard and Cidery to enjoy all they had to offer like food, sweet treats, and rides.

You can even pet goats. One woman who is visiting the U.S. for the first time says she’s beyond excited to be here.

“It’s like in the movie. It’s very American for me but still, I need to explore the place, but it looks very great,” said Sapir Heymann.

What she looks forward to trying.

“We went to see the food tracks and we want to pet the goats and I want to go to these horses. How do you call it carousel yeah,” continued Heymann.

One girl here with her summer camp says she also looks forward to the food.

“I’m just here for the food and maybe the carousel I’m not sure,” added Sadie Markowitz.

Her friend looks forward to something else.

“The animals probably I love animals I mean it stinks over there, but they’re cute,” says Gayle Bialik.

A mom here with her family says they love it so much they come multiple times a week.

“It’s like a hallmark movie it’s there’s something for everybody and you will never get bored,” stated Heather Rakestraw.

“Just the amount of attractions they have here so there’s something really for everybody plus to be able to pick fresh fruit and berries and vegetables it’s incredible such an amazing thing,” explained Rakestraw.

Summer Fest will be going on from July 5 until July 28 from Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
