Scottsdale Saguaro left-hander Cam Caminiti's meteoric baseball rise took another major step Friday.

Caminiti signed for the full slot value of the No. 24 overall pick at $3,556,300 by the Atlanta Braves, according to MLB's Jim Callis.

Dominic Caminiti, Cam's father, confirmed with The Republic that his son signed Friday and he'll be in Atlanta on Monday.

Caminiti, who reclassified from 2025 to 2024 last summer to be part of this year's Major League Baseball Draft, had a stellar senior season, leading Saguaro to the 4A state title.

The Gatorade and Arizona Republic High School Baseball Player of the Year, he was invited to the draft in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday, becoming the youngest player at 17 to be taken in the first round. He turns 18 next month.

Dominic Caminiti said that on Tuesday Cam will meet with team management, do media interviews and attend the Braves game that night.

Dominic said that on Wednesday Cam will go to the Braves' spring training facility in North Port, Florida, where he'll begin training.

"The Braves are hopeful to promote Cam to low A by the end of August, where he will get to play for the Augusta GreenJackets, before the season ends Sept. 8," Dominic said.

Caminiti, 6-foot-2, 195 pounds. who signed in November with LSU, had his fastball clocked as high as 98 mph last season. Mix that with a great changeup and slider, it made him the first high school left-handed pitcher chosen in this year's draft.

He went 9-0 in 10 appearances, striking out 119 and walking 14 in 52.2 innings, finishing with a 0.93 ERA. He gave up just two hits and struck out 11 in Saguaro's 2-1 win over Oro Valley Canyon del Oro in the 4A championship game.
