According to ARIZONA’S FAMILY, in Tempe, Arizona a dramatic incident involving a U.S. Marshals task force ended tragically with the death of 35-year-old Matthew Walsh who was wanted on multiple felony charges. The situation unfolded near Rural Road and Southern Avenue when law enforcement officers attempted to apprehend Walsh at a residence. They surrounded the house and issued commands for everyone inside to come out. While four individuals complied Walsh and a woman who remains unidentified refused to cooperate leading to a tense standoff scenario. The standoff quickly escalated when Walsh began firing shots at the officers from inside the house. In response law enforcement returned fire to neutralize the threat.

Thousands in metro Phoenix still without electricity on day after powerful storms
PHOENIX – Around 2,000 Phoenix-area customers were still without electricity midday Thursday after storms caused power outages across the region the previous night. “We had some storms that developed in the northwest metro and then they descended southward toward central Phoenix and then eventually out into western areas like Buckeye,” Alex Young of the National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix told KTAR News 92.3 FM Thursday morning.
