SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We begin with four people injured and three arrested after a popular summertime event at Montage Mountain ended in violence Friday night.

Two people are in Lackawanna County Prison Saturday facing assault and harassment charges. The arrest comes after a fight that broke out in the parking lot of Montage Mountain Resort late Friday night after the mountain’s first adult swim party of the season.

25-year-old Nyree Pemberton and 22-year-old Divine Taylor both from Ithaca, New York are locked up in Lackawanna County Prison.

Police say an argument that started inside montage mountain’s first adult swim party of the season spilled over into the parking lot. A man and a woman ended up slashed.

“I didn’t really think much of it, but I guess it would have been twice as concerning if I was there,” said Tyler Loop of Scranton.

Loop did not attend the “Adult swim party,” on friday. He instead took his daugter ximena to “Kids swim night,” on saturday. However, he says in the past he has been to adult swim night.

“I’ve been to a couple of adult swims and sometimes it gets out of control and people running around up there and everything,” added Loop.

Police say the man who was slashed, 29-year-old Kwesi Green of Hanover Township, was swinging his fists at Taylor and Pemberton, and knocked Pemberton unconscious. Police recovered a knife next to her.

Green faces simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment charges. Aurrora Lamboy who was with Green was also slashed and is not facing charges.

“I’ve never really felt like our safety was in jeopardy, but with things like that happening up there you have to be aware. There’s people up there that aren’t safe to be around,” explained Loop.

Montage Mountain provided 28/22 news a statement that reads in part:

“We have always made a strong effort to operate safely and successfully. It is never a good situation when two young individuals decide, for whatever reason, to engage each other in a parking lot and fight. For our part, everyone involved acted quickly and professionally to control the situation and prevent escalation.”

The kind of safety John Hudson says he saw at the waterpark when he went a week ago and normally does.

“It looked like secured where nothing would pop up or anything like that, but anything can happen at any given moment especially when there is alcohol involved,” stated Hudson.

Police say the fight and stabbings remain an active investigation. Now, Montage Mountain holds six to eight adult swim parties every summer.
