Climbing Montage Mountain in Mainline 5K

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — How does running a 5K early in the morning sound? In Lackawanna County Sunday, many tackled the slopes of Montage Mountain.

More than 300 participants embarked on the challenge of the Mainline 5K.

It was the first race of the Black Diamond Series, and the course was steep, muddy, and extreme.

Those who registered will receive free admission to the Montage Mountain Waterpark after the race and are eligible to purchase up to four additional water park tickets.

“It was hard, hard terrain, slippery agonizing it wasn’t that fun, but it was really worth it,” said 14-year-old racer Alec Weinberger.

The humidity added to the challenge, but fortunately, there were clear skies above.
