SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say a man is facing charges after a foot chase in Scranton on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Scranton Police Department announced on Monday they arrested 27-year-old Naim House as they were investigating a firearms-related incident.

Police say House and another person were seen exiting a white Hyundai Santa Fe on Mulberry Street and Harrison Avenue, according to police.

Authorities say House and the other individual briefly entered the home before leaving and entering the car.

As police approached the car, the driver initially failed to yield before stopping on the 700 block of Harrison Avenue, police explained.

Authorities say the car’s driver surrendered to authorities, but House fled on foot and was later caught in the area of Oakwood Place with the help of K-9 Attyro.

Officers say during the search, they recovered a black bag thrown away by House which had a Glock 17 handgun equipped with a selector switch for full-automatic fire and an extended magazine.

Also in the bag, authorities explained they found narcotics packages for resale and House admitted to ownership of both the handgun and the narcotics during an interview with detectives.

House was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Alyce Hailstone Farrell on Tuesday morning.

Court documents say House was unable to make the $200,000 bail set by Judge Hailstone Farrell and is currently being held at the Lackawanna County Prison.

Officials say House is facing multiple charges for the incident, including escape, evading arrest or detention on foot, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and other related charges.

House has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 18.
