Genovese advises residents to eliminate standing water on their properties as that could be a breeding area for mosquitoes.

According to the Department of Environmental Protection’s West Nile Virus Control Program, that includes wearing shoes, socks, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt when outdoors for a long time. Use a mosquito repellant according to its package directions, and wash skin and clothing when returning indoors.

The two samples found make this the third and fourth positive samples found, but no cases in humans have been reported according to the statement.
