BAYSIDE/QUEENS — POLICE ARRESTED THE MAN WHO IMPERSONATED A PRIEST and robbed a church rectory in Bayside, reports the Daily News. The NYPD on Thursday arrested Rostas Malin, 45, who was charged in Queens Criminal Court with burglary and petit larceny in the March 3 scam. The man had claimed to a visiting priest and used that pretext to enter the rectory of American Martyrs RC Church, and stole $900 in cash from a real priest living in the rectory. The parish is within the Diocese of Brooklyn, which includes Queens.

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James today announced a 625-count indictment charging five individuals for their involvement in a gun trafficking operation that sold dozens of ghost guns, assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in Queens, New York. An investigation led by the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF) recovered 86 firearms – including 55 ghost guns and 25 assault weapons – along with over 90 high-capacity magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The individuals involved in the operation transported 3D-printed ghost guns assembled in Nassau County and serialized firearms purchased in Indiana into Queens, where they were stored and sold.

The State of Connecticut Mosquito Management Program has confirmed that mosquitoes trapped near the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich have tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). These are the first positive cases identified in Greenwich this year by the Connecticut Agriculture Experiment Station (CAES). Along with Greenwich, WNV-positive mosquito pools have also been detected in Darien, Norwalk, New Canaan, New Haven, and Stamford.

In Suffolk County, all westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway are slated to close nightly in the town of Babylon beginning on Monday, July 22.
