In the wake of Hurricane Debby's impact on Steinhatchee, Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis has announced a $10 million relief fund for businesses affected by the storm. Debby, a Category 1 hurricane, made landfall in Steinhatchee, leaving a trail of damage in its path.

On Tuesday, DeSantis provided updates on the ongoing recovery efforts. He was joined by Kevin Guthrie, Executive Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), to announce the activation of the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program. This program aims to support small businesses that suffered economic losses or physical damage due to the hurricane by offering short-term, zero-interest loans. The application process for these loans is open until September 30 or until all the funds are distributed.

DeSantis emphasized the extensive response efforts underway, with assistance pouring in from across the state. FDEM is setting up nine Points of Distribution (PODs) in Dixie, Jefferson, Lafayette, Manatee, and Taylor counties to distribute essential supplies such as food, water, and tarps to residents affected by the storm.

In addition to FDEM's efforts, the Florida National Guard is mobilizing up to 3,500 Guardsmen to aid in the recovery operations. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is also contributing by deploying extra personnel, high-water vehicles, and other storm response resources to support the affected communities.

The concerted efforts of state agencies and municipal authorities highlight the dedication to returning things to normal and giving Hurricane Debby victims the support they need. The primary goal of the recovery process is still to assist locals and businesses in rebuilding and recovering from the storm's aftermath.
