Jersey Shore beach bans swimming all summer over high levels of fecal matter

High levels of fecal bacteria found in the water at Beachwood Beach West in the Jersey Shore borough of Beachwood led officials to ban on swimming there for the rest of the summer. Keeping home historically accurate is important to Zarrillis
BAY HEAD — Bay Head has seen much reconstruction ever since Superstorm Sandy barreled through the town in 2012, with many old and historic homes either being destroyed due to the storm, or torn down in favor of a larger, more modern-looking home. However, some residents, such as Mark and Janice Zarrilli, opted to keep the historic look of their home’s exterior instead of a complete tear-down.
Ray’s Cafe honored for generosity to borough
SEA GIRT — Ray Litzinger, owner of Ray’s Cafe at 523 Washington Blvd., was honored in a proclamation by the mayor and borough council at the Wednesday, July 10, meeting, in recognition of the commitment, dedication and support he and his business provide to the community. Mayor Donald Fetzer read, “It is with great honor and admiration that we recognize individuals whose dedication and commitment continue immeasurably to the vibrant spirit and cohesion of our community…(the proclamation) serves as special recognition to Ray Litzinger, owner and operator of Ray’s Cafe since 1993.”

Beach library, shade tree commission host pollinator garden talk
POINT PLEASANT BEACH — Point Beach residents gathered in the meeting room of the “Little Red Library” on Tuesday morning to learn how to make their yards more pollinator-friendly from fellow resident and gardener Cathy Kniffin. Kniffin began the program, called “Pollinators and the Plants that Support Them,” by talking about the prehistoric co-evolution of plants and their main pollinators.
