Two Kraken Prospects Becoming Centers Of Attention

Two of the six prospects rated mid-season "Stock Up" by McKeen's Hockey are Seattle Kraken draft picks.

No, this doesn't mean Kraken fans should run out to their nearest athletic shop and "stock up" on as many Oscar Fisker Molgaards and Carson Rehkopfs as they can fit in the trunk of their SUVs.

What it does mean is that writer Josh Bell has grown increasingly fond of Molgaard and Rehkopf (pictured above at the CHL Top Prospects game). Below are excerpts from his progress reports on the two Seattle picks.

Oscar Fisker Molgaard

• Position: Center
• Stats: 38 games, 6 goals, 16 points
• Team: HV71, Swedish Hockey League
• Chosen: 2nd Round, 2023 Draft

Oscar will celebrate his 19th birthday in nine days.

"Molgaard seems to be getting more comfortable with every game played; points in 10 of his last 14 games. To make this even more impressive, he’s doing it playing as a center.

"Most 18-year-olds in the SHL would be slid to the wing to play with a more veteran pivot. Intelligence and improving playmaking have been making him look like a potential middle-six centerman in the NHL."

Carson Rehkopf

• Position: Center
• Stats: 42 games, 37 goals, 66 points
• Team: Kitchener Rangers, OHL
• Chosen: 2nd Round, 2023 Draft

Carson celebrated his 19th birthday in January.

"Rehkopf has exploded offensively this season, currently sitting second in the league in goals (37) and eighth in points per game (1.57). His play this season even earned him a spot on Team Canada for the World Juniors, where he stayed hot with four points in five games.

"Rehkopf’s ability to score goals might just be enough to carry him all the way to the NHL. The rest of his game (has improved), elevating him to another level in the OHL. He’s showing the potential to be a top-six winger."
