Though the Seattle Kraken and fans didn't have much to celebrate after Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Washington Capitals, there was reason for joy beforehand.
The team honored winger Jordan Eberle on the occasion of playing his 1,000th NHL game Tuesday against Vegas.
As always, ace photographer Caroline Anne beautifully captured the pregame scene at Climate Pledge Arena. The captions are my fault.
Typical... husband's hanging out with the boys while the wife has to watch the kids.

Oh, never mind. Here's dad!

No words necessary.

Kraken co-owner Samantha Holloway adds flourish to the unveiling of a commemorative Eberle portrait. She's saying (we think), "What do you mean you would have preferred a version on black velvet?"

The artwork captures Eberle's celly after his overtime goal to win Game 4 of last season's playoff series with Colorado.

Kraken GM Ron Francis presents Eberle with a silver stick, traditional gift for reaching 1,000 game plateau. For playing his 1,001st game Thursday against Washington, Eberle will receive an upgrade from "Grande" to "Venti" on his next Starbucks order.

The ice was in a celebratory mood, too.

Also bearing gifts, Eberle's teammates: Adam Larsson (6), Jared McCann (19), Justin Schultz (4) and Yanni Gourde (37).

Gourde presented a flower bouquet to Lauren Rodych-Eberle.

Other mementos included an engraved watch and a paddle created by a Coast Salish artist.

Larsson (left) and McCann were in good spirits (later, the good spirits might have been in them). See what I did there?

As a final gesture, the group re-enacts the wedding photo from "The Godfather."
