For a rare fifth time this season, the Tanev brothers found themselves in the same building for an NHL game.

Brandon, of course, is a charter member of the Seattle Kraken. Brother Chris was a member of the Calgary Flames when those two Pacific Division rivals met four times this season.

Chris Tanev, since traded to the Dallas Stars, made his first of two appearances with his new squad Saturday at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Kraken played at least as well Saturday as they did in consecutive wins over the Anaheim Ducks earlier this week. But instead of the 46-loss Ducks, Seattle had to face the 46-win Stars, best in the Western Conference.

Aided by a questionable major penalty assessed to Adam Larsson, Dallas outlasted Seattle 3-0 for their seventh straight victory, breaking the Kraken two-game win streak.

    1st Period

When Joey Daccord's at T-Moblie Park, the opposition is getting shut out. Friday, Daccord threw out the first pitch before the Mariners defeated the Red Sox 1-0.

Joey starts tonight in goal, and Dallas probably won't promise to stay 60 feet, 6 inches away.

As good as Philipp Grubauer was against Dallas in last year's seven-game playoff, Daccord is the kind of athletic goaltender needed to contend with the Stars' attack.

That's because from a pure hockey standpoint, Dallas is a joy to watch. Crisp passes, puck possession, tireless. The visitors take nine of the first 11 shots in the game, but Daccord so far has all the answers.

A well-played, fast-paced, penalty-free 1st period ends scoreless. Kraken defenseman Ryker Evans saves a goal in the dying seconds by blocking a wraparound attempt with Daccord at the opposite post. Dallas has the edge in SOG, 12-3.

    2nd Period

Shot attempts in the 1st period were lopsided in Dallas' favor, 31-12. Seattle has to work to make that same International Fountain side of the rink tilt in their favor this period.

Oliver Bjorkstrand makes the non-goalie Kraken save of the season. As Jason Robertson is about to deposit the puck into an open net, Bjorkstrand slides across the crease behind his goalie to make the block.

Dallas goalie Jake Oettinger makes bang-bang saves on Brian Dumoulin and rookie Logan Morrison, playing his third NHL game.

Bjorkstrand comes close to breaking the ice on offense, but Oettinger gloves his rising blast.

The Stars - wow, are they talented - make consecutive behind the back passes as ageless Joe Pavelski fires on goal.

Kraken on Kraken Krime: Dallas' Radek Faksa knocks Brian Dumoulin off balance while skating by, causing the defenseman to slide heavily into his goaltender. Both Kraken rise without apparent harm.

On the game's first power play, Seattle's given a nightmare flashback to Thursday, when they surrendered two shorthanded goals to Anaheim. Only Daccord's best save of the contest prevents Roope Hintz from putting the visitors in front.

Tye Kartye crushes Robertson into the side boards. Robertson tries to engage Kartye afterward, to no effect.

Jamie Benn, standing in front, blocks Daccord's view when Nils Lundkvist's long-range wrister is tipped home from the circle by Wyatt Johnston. 1-0 Dallas at 18:12 on Johnston's 29th.

Shots were 9-8 Stars in the middle 20, with Dallas ahead through two periods 20-11.

    3rd Period

Kraken chances of a comeback dimmed considerably just 19 seconds in, when Adam Larsson is assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing Chris Tanev.

Though the call survived a video review, replays didn't appear to confirm Larsson's transgression. Legitimate question exists about how much contact actually occurred between elbow and head.

Dallas needs nine seconds to increase its cushion to 2-0, Pavelski's 26th.

Later in the PK, Daccord makes a spectacular belly-flopping save to deny Hintz from adding to the lead.

Kraken penalty killers, led by Chris Tanev's brother Brandon, successfully dispose of the last 4:51 of Larsson's major.

The 29th ranked Seattle offense never really challenged after that, dropping the finale of a four-game homestand. The Kraken hit the road for their next game, Monday - April Fool's Day - in San Jose.
