Carson Rehkopf has scored a three year, $950k AAV entry level contract with the Seattle Kraken.

Why not? Rehkopf (#16 in above photo), a 2023 2nd round pick by Seattle, didn't stop scoring all season with the OHL Kitchener Rangers.

“We saw tremendous progress from Carson as he set multiple career highs in the OHL this season” Kraken general manager Ron Francis said in a press release. “We are excited for him to officially join our organization.”

Rehkopf had his biggest week in late February, nine points in three games. This tweet includes an impressive montage of goals.

Rehkopf didn't slow down. With a flair for the dramatic, he made his 50th goal an overtime game-winner. Watch the clip below and you'll understand why OHL Western Conference coaches voted Rehkopf "Best Shot and Most Dangerous in the Goal Area."

Rehkopf finished with 52 goals and 95 points in 60 games. The 19-year-old Vaughn, Ontario native added a half-dozen goals in the Rangers' just-concluded postseason.

Rehkopf is expected to head to the Kraken's AHL farm team in Coachella Valley for the Firebirds' playoff run.

    Šalé Items

During their playoff series with the Erie Otters, Rehkopf combined with Kitchener teammate Eduard Šalé, prompting visions of a future Kraken partnership.

Šalé had a breakout playoffs, which we'll get to in a moment. The Kraken 2023 1st round pick began 2023-24 with another OHL team, the Barrie Colts.

He scored seven goals in 25 games with the Colts, plus three more in helping the Czech Republic to the bronze medal at the World Juniors in Sweden.

His OHL rights were then traded to Kitchener, where he joined Rehkopf. Šalé scored eight goals in 25 regular season games for the Rangers.

The teenager from Brno, Czechia heated up in the postseason, scoring five goals and 12 points in 10 playoff games.
