Seattle Kraken's Shane Wright was named to the AHL Top Prospects Team.

After scoring 22 goals and 47 points in 59 games, Wright was named alongside Logan Stankoven, Jiri Kulich, Brant Clarke, Simon Edvinsson and Yaroslav Askarov on the Top Prospects Team.

Wright was selected fourth overall by the Kraken in the 2022 NHL Draft after he was a dominant player in the OHL . He was granted exceptional status to play in the OHL as a 15-year-old.

Many thought he should have played in the NHL immediately and dominated like Connor McDavid and Connor Bedard but that of course is unfair.

Every player develops and progresses at different speeds and different ways and the 20-year-old's development has been on a steady incline. The acknowledgement to be named to this team is a sign of his progression.

The Coachella Valley Firebirds are in the Calder Cup finals for the second year in a row and will take on the Hershey Bears for the second consecutive year.

Wright has been injured since Game 2 of the second round when he took a hard, illegal hit. The Firebirds making it to the finals is a testament to the depth they have on their roster considering Wright finished with the third most goals and the fifth most points on the team and despite missing his two-way game, the Firebirds have a real chance of winning the Calder Cup.

The Firebirds and the Bears are set to faceoff for Game 1 on Friday night with a possibility of the Canadian centremen returning to the lineup.
