Only Triple Crown winners leave the gate quicker than Shane Wright did to start the 3rd period in Sunday's Game 2 of the Calder Cup Final.

Wright's Coachella Valley Firebirds began the frame trailing the Hershey Bears 3-1 at Giant Center.

From the opening faceoff, the Seattle Kraken 2022 1st round draft pick burst down the right side, snapping a shot on goal.

When Hershey couldn't clear the zone, Wright saw two Bears converging on him. He calmly pushed the puck past both, onto the waiting stick of Martin Studenic, who scored to narrow the Firebirds' deficit.

Though Hershey went on to win 5-2 and even the AHL Final at 1-1, the Coachella Valley radio broadcast lauded Wright as "the best player for the Firebirds all night long."

Games 3, 4, and 5 of the final will be played at Acrisure Arena on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. They will likely be the last in-person looks Firebirds fans will get of Wright, a virtual lock to begin next season in Seattle.

Kraken general manager Ron Francis talks about that in today's Kraken Reaction .
