The Seattle Kraken's desire to add a top-six forward has added another option to the list, Boston Bruins' Jake DeBrusk is the newest target.

After scoring 19 goals and 40 points in 80 games, DeBrusk is a hot commodity during free agency for multiple teams.

The Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs have been pursuing DeBrusk with great intent but they aren't the only teams interested. Teams that are monitoring him are the Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils and Utah HC according to Jimmy Murphy.

DeBrusk and the Bruins have been disconnected for quite some time. The 27-year-old has requested a trade and rescinded it and then requested one again. His career has been filled with ups and downs because he has been dealing with injuries and fighting for ice time on a stacked Bruins lineup.

The former 2015, 14th overall pick has scored 25 plus goals in his career three times and has reached the 50-point plateau just once.

He also has experience going on long playoff runs and has been one of the Bruins' better playoff performers in the last two seasons.

Despite not having offensive numbers that necessarily pop out, DeBrusk brings a physical edge during the play and after it. He's never been afraid to stir the pot and get into scrums after the whistle with the intent to get under his opponent's skin.

DeBrusk's links to the Oilers and the Maple Leafs have been the strongest due to them having playoff-ready rosters and a role carved out for him but also because of his roots growing up. His father, Louie DeBrusk, not only works for Sportsnet covering the Oilers but Jake was born in Edmonton. He has links to the Maple Leafs because his father was born in raised just outside of Toronto.

After signing a two-year, $4M AAV contract before the 2022-23 season, DeBrusk is now a UFA and will be looking for another pay raise and likely a contract with more term. He may have connections with the Oilers and Maple Leafs but neither team has the cap space to match an offer by the Kraken if it becomes a bidding war.

The Kraken are keeping their word on their hopes to sign a top-end forward and July 1st will show if they are able to put their money where their mouth is.
