Before he was shown the door Pete Carroll managed to land the Seahawks one last defensive stud. In an ill-fated all-in move before the trade deadline, Seattle made a major midseason deal with the Giants for Pro Bowl defensive lineman Leonard Williams.

The terms of the trade itself were not very favorable for the Seahawks. However, Williams absolutely balled out for Seattle in the second half of the season and was not remotely responsible for the team's collapse. In fact, he was their best defensive player down the stretch.

Williams has since been re-signed on a three-year, $64 million deal , which was the right move even if the trade to get him wasn't. With Bobby Wagner now out of the picture, Williams becomes the elder statesman and biggest piece (literally he's the biggest guy) of Mike Macdonald's new-look defense.

He may have just turned 30 years old, but Williams doesn't look like he's going to slow down anytime soon. Watch Williams going through a brutal offseason training regimen, including uphill sprints in a helmet and pads.

    Exhausted just watching it.

While they don't have another superstar like Dexter Lawrence (Byron Murphy II pending), this Seattle group is definitely one of the deepest Williams has been a part of and arguably the best overall in his career, at least on paper. ESPN analyst Mike Clay has this Seahawks interior unit ranked No. 2 in the NFL going into 2024.
