Chandler Stephenson spoke to Chris Lomon about his decision to sign with the Seattle Kraken and his confidence in the core and the organization.

Stephenson has been a part of two Stanley Cup-winning franchises and joins the newest organization that wants to one day be crowned champions. His offensive capabilities are why the Kraken are paying him $6.25M a year but the experience he can provide the young stars is very important.

Stephenson spoke about the process of signing with the Kraken and the chaos that surrounds the beginning of free agency.

"We had about 30 minutes to make the decision to sign with Seattle," Stephenson said. "Everyone has been great to us players and people from the organization have reached out and are willing to help in any way they can. My wife has heard from wives and girlfriends on the team as well, which has been nice for us too."

Signing just 10 days ago has made it hard for the 30-year-old to process it all and prepare for the next season but his previous encounters with the Kraken were enough for him to understand the level of the team and how they play.

"It’s a great group," said Stephenson. "You just take one look at the lineup to understand that. When you play them, they are all over you. You have two guys on you as soon as you touch the puck, you pass it to a teammate and then they have two guys on them they are relentless. They are frustrating to play against."

The young nucleus of Matty Beniers, Shane Wright and many of the other exciting prospects the Kraken have in their system was enough to entice two of the biggest free agents this summer. It's a step in the right direction for the continued development of the franchise.
