Arthur Kaliyev requested a trade from the Los Angeles Kings and he is the type of player the Seattle Kraken are missing and should look to add.

Recently, The Fourth Period listed the five teams that have shown interest in the 23-year-old forward. The Kraken aren't one of those teams and the teams he did list were the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, and Ottawa Senators.

The 33rd overall pick in the 2019 NHL draft is a known shooter. Listed at 6'2, 210 lbs, Kaliyev can shoot the puck like the best of them. Despite possessing a lightning-quick, heavy and accurate shot, Kaliyev hasn't had the opportunity to show it with the Kings, or at least that's what he believes.

He's played 188 games in his career, scoring 35 goals and 71 points but he's averaged just 12:08 of ice time. The 2023-24 season was the toughest season of his career scoring just seven goals and 15 points in 51 games.

To date, his NHL numbers don't look great but going back to his OHL days with the Hamilton Bulldogs will show the offensive potential he has. In 192 career OHL games, he scored 126 goals. He was also a force with Team USA in both of his World Junior stints scoring seven goals and 14 points in 12 games.

Kaliyev is in a similar position as what Eeli Tolvanen was in before the Kraken claimed him off of waivers from the Nashville Predators. An efficient scorer who wasn't receiving the appropriate opportunity and was in dire need of a change of scenery. The change proved to be beneficial as his offensive talent flourished and has recently signed a two-year extension.

With playmaking centres like Matty Beniers, Chandler Stephenson and Shane Wright, Kaliyev would not only get the minutes he desires but he would get to play alongside players who could help him show off his strengths.

As of now, Kaliyev is an RFA but due to his struggles last season, he is likely looking for a bridge deal to prove what he can do.

With 20-30 goal potential, Kaliyev could be the secondary scoring winger the Kraken are looking for.
