Geno Smith says 'the way we work' will take Seahawks to Super Bowl

Training camp begins this week for Seahawks rookies and next week for veterans like quarterback Geno Smith, who's entering his third year as Seattle's starter. Even though this is technically his time off, Smith is smart enough to know that staying competitive in the NFL requires a year-round commitment. Naturally, he's spent this offseason working on his craft as per usual. Yesterday we got a brief glimpse behind the scenes of Smith working out with several of his Seahawks brethren, including wide receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Laviska Shenault.

Watch Smith breaking down a brief huddle, telling his teammates that the way the team works will take them to the Super Bowl.

It's the right attitude, but it's also one thing to declare it in the middle of July and quite another to pull it off. Unfortunately for Seattle, the bar is set extraordinarily high. To even win their own division they'll have to get past the 49ers, which is the most-talented team in the NFL and has beaten them by at least a touchdown in their last six matchups.

Getting new head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb calling the plays should help narrow that gap - but the talent disparity between the two rosters is simply too much to overcome at this point. Even with a diminutive psyop playing quarterback the 49ers are the easy, obvious favorite to win the NFC again this year. Realistically, the Niners will have to fall off a bit and the Seahawks will have to raise their game both schematically and personnel-wise to catch up with them. If it's going to happen it will take time.
