Mariners surprise blockbuster trade would land Blue Jays' four-time All-Star

The Seattle Mariners could be looking to make a blockbuster trade over the next few days.

Speculation has been building for months that the Mariners could be in the market for an offensive upgrade and the trade deadline now is just five days away. Seattle has the means to get a major swap done because of the fact that it boasts a surplus of team-controlled young starting pitching.

The Mariners' starting rotation has been one of the best in baseball over the last two years but the offense hasn't followed suit. Because of this, the Mariners have been linked to a few superstars who have been mentioned in trade rumors.

Seattle even was called the "best fit" to land Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. if he were to be moved by Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer.

"The Mariners finally waved the white flag on Ty France, and appropriately so by literally placing him on waivers," Rymer said. "Ideally, they'll now go get someone else to boost the .657 OPS that first base has produced so far.

"(Jon Heyman) floated Guerrero as a possibility for Seattle on MLB Network on Monday. It's hard to imagine a better mood-booster for this lineup, as Guerrero has been as hot as anyone in hitting .325 with 15 homers since the start of May."

Guerrero is one of the top first basemen in baseball and has been mentioned in trade rumors as Toronto has spiraled out of control. The Blue Jays are nearing a rebuild, but it still would be shocking to see Guerrero get moved this summer.
