MINERVA CONCERT – New Song, Geneva College’s music and drama ministry group, will offer a free performance at 7 p.m. July 5 on Minerva’s Municipal Park Stage. Nine students are chosen in January for the group that begins their service in the summer following. Students are chosen because of their musical and dramatic abilities and because of the way they can articulate and convey their faith. Mahoning, Trumbull courts to receive new fingerprint scanners from state grant program
Courts within Mahoning and Trumbull County will receive new fingerprint scanners from a state grant program to "bolster criminal-records systems" within the Valley. Announced in a press release from the Attorney General's Office, the state's criminal-records repository will pay for 77 new devices that courts across Ohio will use to capture defendants' fingerprints for submission to the database.

Austintown fire chief to retire at the end of the month
After 38 years of serving the Austintown Fire Department, Fire Chief Andy Frost plans to retire at the end of July. Frost stepped into the role of chief back in 2012, taking the reigns from his father. He started with the department in 1986 and eventually became full-time in 1992.

Austintown announces police levy on November ballot
A police levy is on the way for voters in Austintown. Trustees formally voted to place the continuing tax levy on the township's November 5 ballot. "Operating a full-time police department is quite expensive," explained Mark D'Apolito, Austintown Township Administrator. Kelly Linger of East Liverpool appointed as judge to Columbiana County Municipal Court
Kelly Linger was recently appointed as a judge to Columbiana County Municipal Court by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. Linger, of East Liverpool, will assume office on July 23, 2024, and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Katelyn Dickey, who resigned upon being appointed to the Ohio Seventh District Court of Appeals. She will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2025 to retain the seat.
