A Sedalia woman was arrested after an incident with police on Thursday, July 4.

An officer with the Sedalia Police Department identified Jammie Newland driving in the city limits of Sedalia, and conducted a traffic stop after dispatch reported that Newland’s license was revoked.

An officer made contact with Newland, who admitted to not having a valid license, and attempted to place her under arrest. Newland resisted and began to drink from a bottle of alcohol in the vehicle.

Newland continued to resist after being handcuffed by officers. Newland reportedly spat on and kicked the officer as he was securing her. Newland was taken to the Pettis County Jail.

Court documents say Newland was charged with felonies for resisting arrest and driving while revoked, as well as misdemeanors for assault in the fourth degree. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.

No court dates have been set at this time.
