The City of Sedalia will begin the next two projects in their stormwater master plan next week, impacting traffic through two neighborhoods.

Poort Excavating will have the project in the area of South Quincy Avenue and West 28th Street, while S & A Equipment and Builders will have the project improving draining along South Beacon from West 13th to 14th streets. Both projects are expected to be completed in 60 days. Inclement weather and equipment breakdowns could delay completion.

The City of Sedalia developed a Stormwater Master Plan, which outlined and prioritized stormwater drainage improvement projects based on key criteria, that included but was not limited to home and street flooding.

Since the completion of the Master Plan in 2013, the City has completed several drainage improvement projects throughout the City. In June of 2022, the City applied for grant funding through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to help further fund more of these improvements’ projects. The City was fortunate to receive funding which will allow for the completion of eight more of the areas identified in the Master Plan as needing improvements.
