    Rabid fox in Selinsgrove, two confirmed bites

    Selinsgrove, Pa. — Two people were confirmed to have bitten by a fox suspected to be rabid in Selinsgrove yesterday near the East Snyder Community Garden.

    In the morning on Wednesday, July 24, the East Snyder Community Garden posted that "someone in Harris Estates was bitten by a fox today." This morning, the garden posted an update stating "three people have been bitten–one seriously" by the fox. State Police confirmed that two individuals were bitten by a fox on July 24 in Selinsgrove.

    According to Pennsylvania State Police, one victim was bitten by the fox and a second victim was bitten while attempting to get the fox off of the first bite victim.

    The Game Commission is trying to locate the fox, which is suspected to be in the corn field near the garden. Pennsylvania State Police at Selinsgrove confirmed that they are assisting the game commission with the search.

    For safety, individuals are advised to avoid the area and gardeners are asked not to visit the garden until the fox has been located.
