Gulf State Park Pier re-opens to the public today
The renovated Gulf State Park Pier re-opened on Monday, Aug. 19, welcoming people to the iconic Gulf Coast landmark for the first time in more than nine months. The pier closed in November 2023 for the $13.6 million renovation project, with contractor MD Thomas Construction, based in Orange Beach, leading the work.

Montgomery woman sentenced to 50 years for role in 2020 stabbing death
A woman from Montgomery has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for her role in the murder of Lesley Luna Pantaleon in 2020. According to an announcement from District Attorney Daryl Bailey the defendant, Erin Taylor, reportedly took part in the beating and stabbing of the victim in June of that year.
