Husker qualifies for South African Olympic Team
A Nebraska Track and Field Athlete has finished as a runner-up at the African Athletic Championships and is now an Olympic qualifier. Mine de Klerk finished second in the shotput with a throw of 17.09 meters and will now head to Paris for the Summer Games. De Klerk started her career at Oregon, where she spent two years (2022-2023) before transferring to Nebraska. While at Oregon, the Ducks won back-to-back Pac-12 Outdoor Team Championships. In her first season at Nebraska, she won the Big Ten Indoor shotput title and qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships, where she finished seventh and was named a first-team all-American. De Klerk also finished third at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. With a throw of 17.09m, Miné de Klerk gained a runner up place at the African Athletic Championships and is now headed to Paris as an Olympic Qualifier. Man carjacked good Samaritan at southeast Nebraska gas station, authorities say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — No good deed goes unpunished. A good Samaritan was carjacked in southeast Nebraska this week in a multistate crime spree, authorities say. Shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, someone saw a vehicle broken down on Highway 136 east of Tecumseh and gave the driver a ride, according to the Johnson County Attorney’s Office.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The Sutherland Rodeo Junior Queen contestants competed for the 2024 crown Wednesday morning with a horsemanship and stock wrangling competition. The four contestants in this year’s entry-level competition were Madilyn Worm, 9, of Taylor, NE, Chloee Faz, 12, of Minden, NE, Austin Hurt, 13, of Sindey, NE, and Cloe Wareham, 15, of Hershey, NE.
