One arrested in connection to Easton shooting
EASTON, Md. – A suspect has been taken into custody following a shots fired investigation in Easton. On Tuesday, officers were called to 11 Jowite Street for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived at the scene to find a crowd of people in the area of the 300 and 400 buildings, and made contact with residents who reported they were shot at. No one was found to be injured.

Cecil County Fair kicks off
FAIR HILL — As the end of July approaches, the Cecil County Fair returns for its 71st season, bringing events, rides, good eats and fun back to the county for what has become a summer staple for many. Workers were working hard to cap off weeks of preparation Thursday evening to get the Fairgrounds ready for the season, according to Don Moore, president of the Cecil County Fair Board of Directors. The Fair kicks off Friday afternoon, with the Midway opening at 5 p.m. Parking for the Cecil County Fair is free. Watch for signs directing traffic to that area where shuttles will transport you to the fair admission gates.
University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Derrick Mayes Joins MLB Draft League
Playing for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Derrick Mayes from Cincinnati, Ohio just finished his collegiate playing days and will now continue his baseball career joining the MLB Draft League which plays from early July until September games for a total of 50 games. GEORGETOWN, DE -- Participants in the Springboard Village Program are expressing concerns for the future amidst a funding shortage. A village of 40 pallet cabins and other facilities have housed and served close to 130 homeless individuals since January 2023 when it opened. Nearly 30 people have moved on to permanent housing.

FRUITLAND, Md. – The Wiersberg Warriors Foundation will be holding a fundraiser Saturday at the Texas Roadhouse in Fruitland. The event celebrates the 4th anniversary of the foundation officially becoming a non-profit, as well as the 28th birthday of Spencer Wiersberg, a Fruitland police officer who lost his life to cancer in 2020. The foundation supports young adults on Delmarva who are not only battling cancer, but dealing with any serious injury or illness.

Officials said on July 19, 2024, the Laurel Police Department announced an increased police presence at the Holly Brook Farms Apartment Complex on Grazing Court in Laurel. This was in response to two simultaneous residential search warrants executed as part of two multi-month drug dealing investigations. These searches resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm and several hundred doses of heroin, leading to four felony arrests.
