Multi-agency effort leads to arrest of suspect in fatal crash near Balls Ferry Road
ANDERSON, Calif. — On July 24th, 2024 Redding and Red Bluff California Highway Patrol officers, along with the Tehama County Sheriff's Department served an arrest warrant on Spencer Robert Earl Reno. They believe Reno was the driver of a fatal hit-and-run crash which killed a person on Balls Ferry Road, North of Trefoil Road on June 19.
Modesto man arrested in Redding for soliciting a minor
REDDING, Calif. — A Modesto man was arrested for solicitation of a minor for sexual acts in Redding Wednesday. The Redding Police Department (RPD) says Ramiro Gonzalez-Cordova, 33, of Modesto, started chatting with a 15-year-old female online and arranged to meet her near her home in Redding. Officials say after driving nearly 4 hours to meet the girl in Redding, on July 24, Gonzalez-Cordova instead met Redding Police Detectives, who had been posing as the juvenile on an internet chat application.
Flora Fire Now 75-Percent Contained While a Suspect has Been Arrested for the Blaze
A Redding-area man has been arrested in connection with Wednesday’s Flora Fire outside Healdsburg and Windsor. Cal Fire the fire started after he drove his car 4 miles without a right front tire. 44-year-old Justin Roy Jones of Anderson started the fire on Chalk Hill Road east of Healdsburg. The friction caused sparks that ignited three separate fires that eventually cpmbined into the Flora Fire burning about 36 acres. It is 75-percent contained. Jones was booked into the Sonoma County Jail around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Jones is one of several arrests related to wildfires in what’s become a dangerous fire year.

A Shasta County woman who has been missing for more than two months told sheriff's deputies last year that her husband beat her and threatened to kill her and, according to court records, the couple had a "volatile" relationship that led to their children being taken from their home. Cal Fire works to contain 30-acre fire near Cottonwood, evacuation warnings lifted
COTTONWOOD, Calif. — Cal Fire is currently at the scene of a vegetation fire burning up to 30 acres south of Cottonwood, according to Cal Fire's Tehama-Glenn Unit. The fire ignited in the area of southbound Interstate 5 and Bowman Road at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The fire forced two evacuation warnings in the area, however, by 3:45 p.m., all evacuations were lifted.

Firefighters contain fire near Gas Point Road in Cottonwood, onramp closed
COTTONWOOD, Calif. — Firefighters have contained a 30-acre vegetation fire burning on the side of Interstate 5 near Gas Point Road in Cottonwood. The onramp onto northbound I-5 from Gas Point Road is currently closed while crews work to extinguish the rest of the fire. Cal Fire says they expect to be finished mopping up the scene by 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Redding Fire Department reflects on Carr Fire six years later, plans memorial
REDDING, Calif. — The Redding Fire Department (RFD) is reflecting on the Carr Fire during the six-year anniversary of the tragedy. RFD Fire Captain Buck Cogle was one of the department members who responded to the 2018 fire, which burned in Shasta and Trinity Counties for more than one month, claiming eight lives and destroying over 1,000 homes.
Redding police conducting day-long active shooter response training at Turtle Bay school
REDDING, Calif. — The Redding Police Department will be conducting an Active Shooter Response Training at Turtle Bay Elementary School on Thursday, July 25. RPD said in a media release, there will be a heavy law enforcement presence in the area and residents can expect to hear sounds of alarms, sirens, and simulated gunfire.
