What to know about Michaels' grand opening in Sheboygan Aug. 3

SHEBOYGAN – Michaels will host a grand opening for its new Sheboygan store this weekend.

The craft store, 3424 Kohler Memorial Drive, opened a couple of weeks ago and replaced the OfficeMax. The grand opening will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, starting with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mayor Ryan Sorenson. Free crafts, and jewelry and art vendors will also be on-site.

The new store will bring several full-time and part-time jobs to the area, according to a news release. It has a self-checkout area, a custom framing center and various categories of art supplies.

The shopping center has gone through a couple of changes in the past months, with recent news Big Lots would be closing in the future.

Other craft and art supplies stores in the area include Hobby Lobby , Hello Happiness Creativity Center , JOANN Fabrics and Ampersand Supply Co.
