SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WHNT) — An incident in Sheffield that left two dead is being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to police.

The Sheffield Police Department responded to a home on Wilson Dam Avenue at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night for a possible suicide call.

When officers arrived, Police Chief Ricky Terry said they found Tommy Ray Burcham, 43, of Tuscumbia dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the grass in an open field across from the home.

After further investigation, officers learned another gunshot victim may be inside the home.

Inside the house, authorities say they found 34-year-old Raleigh Samuel Lemaster dead from a gunshot wound.

“It was reported that both parties involved were close friends and had gotten into a disagreement,” Terry said.

Once the investigation is complete, Terry said findings will be turned over to the Colbert County District Attorney’s Office.
