Sources Reveal If Kate Middleton & Prince William Give Any of Their Kids ‘Preferential Treatment'

Despite Catherine , Princess of Wales, and Prince William being royalty, it seems they ensure their kids have as much of a normal home life as possible; with chores and “no preferential treatment.”

A source recently told DailyMail about how the Wales family stays down-to-earth.

“I think it would surprise people to see how ordinary things are at home,” the source said. “The children help with laying the table, clearing their plates when they’ve finished eating and helping with tidying up. There’s no preferential treatment.”

They added that Catherine (better known as Kate Middleton ) has “been determined to make sure her children’s home life is not disrupted,” and that their routine remains as “normal as possible.”

Speaking of Kate, the source added that she’s been a driving force at home to ensure everything remains grounded, even through her cancer treatment.

“She keeps the family down to earth. Home is a safe haven. In a bid to keep things functioning as smoothly as possible, she has been keen for everything to carry on as normal for the children,” the source said to the outlet. “The children are still expected to do their chores and to muck in at home.” (This checks out when you remember that they don’t employ servants in their home, and have a part-time nanny who only comes during occasions that they’re out and can’t take the kids).

So, it seems that Kate and William make sure all of their kids remain grounded, and keep a normal family life of chores and helping out. However, many have noted that sources have also claimed that Kate and William treat their youngest son, Prince Louis, quite differently from his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte .

A royal insider claimed to OK in 2023 that the Prince and Princess of Wales inadvertently play favorites with Louis, saying, “William and Kate are easier on Louis because he’s the baby of the family. They don’t want to break his little spirit .”

They added that “William and Kate do their best to teach him how to behave, but understand these events are tiresome for a youngster.” So maybe, this just comes into play when they’re at royal events, and not at home.

For those who don’t know, William and Kate have been together on and off since 2003. Since their nuptials, they have since welcomed three children named George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis , 6.

In a previous podcast episode of Happy Mum, Happy Baby , hosted by Giovanna Fletcher, via Town and Country , Kate talked about how she incorporates her family traditions into her parenting.

“I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us—playing with us, doing arts and crafts, and going to the greenhouse to do gardening, and cooking with us—and I try and incorporate a lot of the experiences that she gave us at the time into the experiences that I give my children now,” she said.
