It looks like George Clooney won’t be working with a certain Hollywood director anytime soon based on his comments in a cover story with GQ .

The actor and close friend Brad Pitt chatted with the outlet ahead of their new Apple TV+ movie Wolfs, reflecting on their long careers in Hollywood and competition that may have have arisen between the two stars over the years.

However, Clooney revealed that while he and Pitt have never fallen out over their intersecting careers, he does have issues with another Hollywood director — Quentin Tarantino .

“Quentin said some shit about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him,” Clooney said when asked if he ever felt disappointed that Pitt was repeatedly cast in Tarantino’s movies instead of him.

“He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about you, and somebody else, and then this guy goes, ‘Well, what about George?’ He goes, he’s not a movie star. And then he literally said something like, ‘Name me a movie since the millennium.’ And I was like, ‘ Since the millennium? That’s kind of my whole f-cking career.'”

It isn’t immediately clear what interview Clooney is referring to.

“So now I’m like, all right, dude, f-ck off. I don’t mind giving him sh-t. He gave me sh-t. But no, look, we’re really lucky we got to work with these great directors,” he concluded.

Pitt, who was also present for the interview, appeared to laugh throughout Clooney’s scathing statements, suggesting that things aren’t acrimonious between the frequent collaborators. Earlier in the interview, Clooney also made it clear that he doesn’t hold Pitt’s relationship with Tarantino against him.

“I remember when he won for the film he did with Quentin, when he won the Oscar, and I wrote him and I said, ‘I’m really happy to be in a world where you’ve got an Oscar for the work you do as an actor.'” Clooney said referring to Pitt’s 2020 Best Supporting Actor win for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

“Because there’s a really easy route, when you’re Brad, to do really big commercial films, make a shitload of money, and live a really easy life,” he added, applauding Pitt’s choice to pursue critical acclaim rather than commercial success.
