• Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and friends turned out for A New Business Ribbon Cutting at Mr. Doggo’s on Hwy 96 North. The new restaurant served a variety of menu items to the attendees.

• Austin Street reconstruction is closer to completion with the pouring of concrete this week. Frequent rain has hindered progress on replacing asphalt with concrete to correct drainage issues.

• County Commissioner Pct. 3, Stevie Smith, presents his plan for purchasing haul trucks for each county precinct utilizing American Rescue Plan Act funds. The plan was approved at the March 6 meeting.
• Heavy rain and high winds blew through Center last Fri-day flooding downtown streets plus toppling trees and scattering limbs. One large traffic sign was spotted tumbling through the intersection of Austin and San Augustine Streets as cars moved to dodge the airborne sign.
