Shelby church to host fundraiser and kids carnival in August

SHELBY — Shelby's First Lutheran Church at 33 Broadway St. will host two upcoming community events in August.

The first is an Ice Cream Social and Auction on Aug. 11 to raise funds for the renovation of its historic pipe organ. The event will begin following the 10 a.m. worship service at approximately 10:45 a.m. and will feature a variety of picnic lunch foods and ice cream.

There will also be a silent auction offering a wide range of items donated by congregation members, plus a live auction at 11:30 a.m. with pies and desserts donated by congregation members and contributions from prominent local businesses, including O'Reilly's, Rocket Chevrolet, Discovery Dental, The Vault Wine Bar, Mama's Pizza, Paul's Drive-In, Barb Tuemler and others.

Back to School Carnival

First Lutheran Church will also host its first Back to School Carnival from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

This community event offers an evening of activities, games and complimentary items for children of all ages. The Back to School Carnival aims to bring families and friends together to celebrate the upcoming school year. The event is open to all community members and has no admission fee.

In support of the back-to-school season, free school supplies will be distributed to local students. Children can participate in various carnival games and win prizes. There will also be bounce houses, complimentary cotton candy, hot dogs, popcorn and other treats.
