Some towns just have to get fancy with their town names. For a lot of states in America, there are weird town names. Maybe they're ones that are hard to pronounce because they came from a different language or a Native American term. Maybe they're just super random (looking at you What Cheer).
Manure Spill Causes Fish Kill in O’Brien County
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a fish kill at Mud Creek near Paullina. The DNR Field Office in Spencer on Wednesday was notified of dead fish south of Paullina in Mud Creek. Further investigation revealed an individual was land applying manure in a field, which entered a blown out tile that discharges to Mud Creek. The amount of manure released is unknown at this time. Dead fish have been observed for several miles in the creek.

Rock Valley schools set plan for new school year
ROCK VALLEY, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) - The school year will begin a couple of weeks late in Rock Valley this fall as the community recovers from flooding. According to Sioux County Radio, classrooms aren’t expected to be ready on time. Students in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade will start classes at Trinity Christian Reformed Church. Third, fourth, and fifth graders will start in cleaned and sanitized, but unfinished, classrooms.

Sheldon had its own Civil War veterans’ organizations: McKenzie Post 72, and Grand Army of the Republic.
