Wachholtz and Ballard honored by Governor for volunteerism
Paula Wachholtz of Panora and Cathy Ballard of Guthrie Center were honored June 25 during the annual Iowa 2024 Governor’s Volunteer Awards ceremony. Seven additional counties approved for FEMA Public Assistance under the April Presidential Major Disaster Declaration
(Des Moines) Governor Kim Reynolds today announced the approval of Clarke, Crawford, Harrison, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, and Union Counties for FEMA Public Assistance under the previously approved Major Disaster Declaration for Iowa counties where significant damage was sustained from severe storms and tornadoes that occurred April 26-27, 2024, and continuing.
DNR Studying Ways to Increase Deer Population in Southwest Iowa
(Lewis) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources hosted several public meetings on the importance of managing the deer herd. John Lorenzen from the DNR Office in Lewis says some areas of the state, including southwest Iowa, currently show a significant drop in the deer herd needed to satisfy deer hunters.
