UNI volleyball has been tabbed to win the conference in the Preseason Coaches Poll.The Panthers received all but one vote to win the Missouri Valley Conference and that one vote was their own since you can’t vote for yourself. See What Archeologists in Iowa Unearthed After 13,600 Years
It's nice to see these coming out of the ground like this. Archaeologists in Iowa have made a significant discovery with the unearthing of a well-preserved mastodon skull, dating back approximately 13,600 years. This find, located in the southern part of the state, is Iowa’s first notable mastodon and includes several bones primarily from the skull. The timing of this mastodon’s life aligns with the era when the first humans were inhabiting the region. I wonder if this mastodon knew the Flintstones.

(Treynor) -- Applications are sought for a small business pitch competition in southwest Iowa. TS Bank is once again partnering with Advance Southwest Iowa Corporation and other local companies to offer $15,000 to one or more local entrepreneurs through REV, a small business pitch competition. The competition has distributed over $138,000 since it began in 2015. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Show" program recently, TS Bank Director of Public Relations Kelsey Stupfell says the program is a chance to help ensure small businesses are set up for long-term growth and sustainability.

Two people were taken to the hospital after morning crash near Fairfax on Tuesday
LINN COUNTY, Iowa — Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a crash near Fairfax. Authorities were called to the scene at the 80th Street offramp on eastbound Highway 30. They arrived there shortly after 10:30 a.m. and found a 2013 Ford Escape and 2024 Nissan Frontier that were involved. Deputies say the driver of the Ford Escape was turning onto 80th Street when it was hit by the Nissan Frontier.
