Colleen Hoover has been a name that has come up when people are recommending authors to try. However, I haven’t picked up one of her books until now. And I am glad that I did!

I saw that Blake Lively was doing a movie based on this book, so I decided to give Hoover and It Ends With Us a try. I was quite surprised about the topic of domestic violence that was weaved throughout the entire book. I had no idea that it was about that, but I really enjoyed the story.

It Ends with Us is about Lily, a young girl who works hard for everything htat she has. She grew up in a small town and moved to Boston. At that point, she decided to follow her dream and start her own business.

When she meets a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, she can’t believe the sparks that are flying. However, the two don’t meet up again for a few months, but when they do, the sparks are still there!

It turns out, both of them coulnd’t stop thinking about each other in the months since their first meeting. In fact, Ryle has a “no dating” rule, which he decides to break in order to spend more time with Lily.

As she questions her new relationship, she thinks about her first love Atlas Corrigan. When they were young, they saved each other and what they had was precious. When she runs into Atlas suddenly, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Hoover is not afraid to show another side of domestic violence. We hear about women who stay and we just can’t understand why they would. However, Hoover and Lily show us that it just isn’t as simple as people think it is. If you are looking for a book that will make you think, this is the perfect place to start.

I can’t wait to watch the movie!
