4 injured after driver attempts to inch onto Highway 71 north of St. Joseph
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KCTV) - Two drivers and two passengers were injured after a 71-year-old attempted to inch his vehicle out onto Highway 71 north of St. Joseph. The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just after 2:45 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 71 and John Glenn Rd., a mile north of St. Joseph, with reports of a 2-vehicle collision.

Jorgenson named '24 Friend of Ag
(Farragut) -- One of KMAland's leading agricultural advocate is this year's Friend of Agriculture Award recipient. Sidney area farmer Jeff Jorgenson received the 2024 award during the Shenandoah Chamber and Industry Association's Annual Meeting and Agriculture Banquet in Farragut Wednesday night. A Northwest Missouri State University graduate, Jorgenson has farmed in Fremont County for 28 years. In presenting the award, Russell Loewe (LAY-vee) gave a brief synopsis of Jorgenson's career and personal highlights.
Page County Red Tide swim team fundraising for new diving blocks
(Clarinda-Shenandoah) -- A local swim team is raising funds to upgrade equipment for its youth athletes. The Page County Red Tide swim team is holding a fundraiser to replace diving blocks for their swimmers, including youth from Shenandoah and Clarinda. A non-profit utilizing spaces at the Clarinda Lied Center and Shenandoah swimming pool, Red Tide was formed three years ago after the Shenandoah and Clarinda teams combined in hopes of being able to compete with larger area swim teams. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Show" Thursday, Head Coach Alexa Connell says they are raising funds to help replace worn-out diving blocks that are nearly 20 years old.

(Red Oak) The Red Oak Police Department arrested 31-year-old Ashley Dawn Eden, of Griswold, this (Friday) morning for Theft 5th Degree and Illegal Possession of Prescription Medication. Eden was held in the Montgomery County Jail on $1,000 bond.
Red Oak Fire Department announces Youth Firesetting Intervention Program
(Red Oak) -- A local fire department has launched a new youth fire prevention program. The Red Oak Fire Department announced Friday the launch of its new Youth Firesetting Intervention Program, a national effort that is overseen by the State Fire Marshal's Office. Levi Kinnison is the youth firesetting intervention specialist with the Red Oak Fire Department. Kinnison tells KMA News the program aims to create a partnership among the community, local fire departments, as well as local law enforcement in deterring fires set by youth.
