NORTH SHENANGO TWP. Pa. (WKBN) — North Shenango first responders were disrupted and one was struck by a car while responding to a crash on Sunday, according to North Shenango Fire Department’s Facebook.

The department made a post stating crews were at the scene of a crash in Crawford County on Hartstown Road and had to close Hartstown and Fries Road. The department placed cones to block traffic in order for crews to assist an entrapped accident victim, which the post said was its first priority.

The post continued and said some drivers had disregarded the cones and drove around them. It also said drivers “decided it was more important for our responders to stop what they were doing so they could berate them about the road closure.” One first responder was hit in the process.

“In the process of those vehicles being turned around a car struck one of our first responders and left the scene. We are very thankful tonight that he was evaluated at the hospital and is now home resting,” the post stated.

The post ended by asking drivers not to disregard traffic cones, stating “You never need to get somewhere that is more important than our personnel returning home safely to their families.”
