Brightside to again offer back to school assistance
SALEM — The Brightside project will once again be offering back to school assistance this year. In a press release Wednesday Brightside announced the return of its annual back to school assistance programming ahead of the 2024-2025 school year, “offering essential support to students and families in the community.”
TRUMP TO HOLD ANOTHER RALLY IN BUTLER
Donald Trump intends to return to Butler, Pennsylvania for another campaign event. The former president’s rally on July 13th was cut short after an assassination attempt that left one attendee dead and two others injured. On Friday, Trump wrote he will be returning to the city “for a big and beautiful rally.” It’s unclear when or where the rally will take place, as Secret Service officials have urged him to stop holding events outdoors following the shooting.

Carnegie Public Library to host a variety of events in August

Utilities commission hears updates on projects
SALEM – The utilities commission heard updates on the department’s ongoing projects in its meeting Thursday. With the receipt of the signed resolution authorizing the commission to apply for loan funding from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) and the Ohio Water Development Authority for phase one of the water treatment plant upgrades received from city council last week set to be sent to the OEPA by Benesch Engineering Friday, the commission still needed to sign the notice of intent to award the project to chosen contractor AP O’Horo Construction subject to OEPA approval. The commissioners voted unanimously to authorize the signing and issuance of the notice, which Benesch also hoped to send to AP O’Horo Friday.
U.S. should focus on generating energy
In “Consumers encouraged to conserve energy” (July 8, online), consumers in Butler were urged to conserve power by switching off “nonessential electric items” during periods of peak energy demand. This reflects a much larger issue: the looming energy supply crunch across the country, which could affect both businesses and consumers.
A center of learning, diversity and fun
Ten years ago [the East Liverpool Area Community & Learning Center] was home to the Trinity Presbyterian Church on the north side of the City of East Liverpool. Improvements coming to Hope Road
