SHERMAN, Ill. (WCIA) — Sangamon/Menard County Crime Stoppers is now getting involved in a vehicle theft case in the hopes of finding the person(s) who stole a truck and lawn mowers belonging to the Village of Sherman.

The truck was stolen from the village’s Public Works facility on July 1 . Someone used an axe to cut a hole in the side of the secured building and stole the truck, which had a trailer attached to it, and the two lawn mowers that were on the trailer.

None of the stolen items — the truck, trailer and mowers — have been found yet.

The truck is a red Ford F-550 flatbed with the words “Sherman Pubic Works” printed in gold on the doors. The truck’s license plate is M197084 and the trailer’s is M994134.

Anyone who has information about the theft or who has seen the truck is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427 to submit a tip. Tips can also be submitted on Crime Stoppers’ website or their app P3 Tips.

All tips to Crime Stoppers are both anonymous and eligible for a cash reward if the information provided leads to an arrest.
